A note on this site should survive being read out at the kitchen table. If it needs a lecture first, it is too long.
Name the ground
Every piece says which province, which kind of government, and which years. RM or town. School division if that is the point. If two lines overlap, both get named. You should be able to leave in the first paragraph if you are not in it.
Monday morning
A script checks the same list a municipal office already watches: Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta newsrooms; AMM, SARM, RMA, Alberta Municipalities; CBC Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Edmonton, and Calgary. Sport and crime come out. What is left is a title, a source, and a link on this week. That list is gathered. It is not yet a note. A person still has to write the note.
What gets kept
- a place you can find on a map
- a number you can point at, not wave at
- the source on the page
- words you would say to a neighbour, not to a seminar
If we got the drain wrong
You live there. We may not. Talk is for the correction — the year the ditch was moved, the bylaw number, the meeting the minutes skipped. That is part of the record.
If it does not change the bill, the bus, or the line on the ground, it does not go in.
